But as with everything at Calvary, we can return to God's Word to see what He has to say about giving. Don't worry - this sermon is a short one.
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
2 Corinthians 9:7
So, why do we give?
Let's be clear: God does not need what we have.
However, what we do with what we have guides our hearts. Giving reminds us that everything we have was given by God and we depend on Him to meet our every need. And cheerful giving is part of our worship to God.
Giving expresses our gratitude to God by using His resources to continue telling His story in our community and world.
