Education for Life
Since its founding in 1972, Calvary Lutheran School's guiding focus of assisting parents in the spiritual and academic training of their children has remained unchanged. Our faculty and staff recognize that each child is a unique gift given by God and that children learn best when parents and faculty work together towards common goals for the benefit of each child. We believe that a true education is founded first in the knowledge and wisdom of God so that each child may daily grow in a life of faith, witness and service.

Extra-Curricular Activities
Junior Choir for students in grades 4-8 begins on Monday, September 13. Tang Soo Do for grades 5-8 begins on Tuesday, September 7, and for grades 1-4, it begins on Monday, September 13. Based on interest expressed, we will now seek to establish dates for music lessons and other activities.
PowerSchool Accounts
PowerSchool account information was sent home last Wednesday. You can begin viewing your child's records on PowerSchool by following the PowerSchool for Parents link on the side menu and clicking on "Create an Account". You will be prompted to create your own user name and password and then to enter information, including ID and password, for each of your children. The access ID and password for you child is on the sheet that was sent home last Wednesday. Please contact the school office if you have any difficulty setting up your account.
Pre-School Update
Plans have been completed for the room cabinetry and built-ins which are being donated by Mr. Greg Schragin of Pallas Design Group. We expect construction of the dividing wall in the Fellowship Hall to begin in September and cabinetry work will then follow. Our timeline is to complete the room by our Open House in January and then to begin enrollments for the 2011-2012 school year. The room will also begin to be utilized for our pre-school Sunday School class upon its completion.
School Lights
Thanks to a financial gift, volunteers were able to install new lights in the school hallway and office areas over the Labor Day weekend. They lights provide greater light at a lower cost. When you walk "into the light", remember to thank our volunteers: Mr. Johm McCarthy, Mr. Rick Jackson, Mr. Joe Krakovsky, Pastor John Hering, Mr. Bill Ball, and Mrs. Debbie Oulicky. When funds are available, plans will be made to complete light replacement in our classrooms.
Grades 5-8 Sing
On Sunday, September 12, Calvary's worship service will focus on our congregational and school theme, Let It Shine! Our grade 5-8 students will enrich our worship by singing in the 11:00 a.m. service. Students are asked to gather in the grade 5-6 classroom at 10:45 a.m. to warm up. Students will sit with their parents during the service.
Science Exhibit Information
Information about our Science Exhibit which is to be held on Friday, October 22, at 7:00 p.m. is being sent home with all students this week. We hope this advance notice will give you time to work with your child and participate in our Science Exhibit.
